Olivier Racine
Olivier started to play No Limit Hold’em back in 2003. He was one of the many people who started to play during the Chris Moneymaker boom. He deposited 50$ to play low stakes SNGs and has been playing ever since.
Olivier didn’t expect to become a poker pro, at 17 he started studying statistics at Université du Québec à Montréal. He later decided to switch to the human resources degree which he completed in 2006. After working in human resources for four years, all the while playing poker in his spare time, he realized he was making more money playing cards part-time than working full-time so he made the decision to become a poker pro.
He has since become a steady figure at 1/2 NL full ring games, plays 2/4 when tables are running and he takes shots at 3/6 and 5/10 when the opportunities are good. He mostly plays full ring because that’s the type of game he has been playing since the beginning but do not be surprise to see him on shorthanded tables, heads up tables or even multi-table tournaments; he feels that versatility is an important asset for a poker pro.
His most memorable poker moment off the tables is undoubtedly his trip to Las Vegas, in late 2010, where he cheered for his poker friend and WSOP champion, Jonathan Duhamel.
Olivier is also involved in the poker community as a poker coach and a columnist. He writes for Princepoker.com and RDS.ca, the biggest sports network in Quebec.
