As a teenager Gabriel was already interested in poker, playing with family and friends. He enjoyed the rudiments of the game without imagining all the opportunities it could offer. After discovering online poker forums and reading a lot on the subject, he realized it was possible to earn a living playing cards. He continued playing sporadically, winning every now and then, until he decided to take it more seriously. Gabriel was on his way to becoming a poker pro!
He applied himself to improving his play; he followed a conservative bankroll management strategy and deepened his understanding of the game. Disciplined in his approach, poker became a true passion. He started playing online, moved up through the ranks quickly and now is a regular in the NL games ranging in stakes from 1/2 to 5/10.
Making it his duty to participate in the tournaments held in the Montreal area, he made friends with many of the players and distinguished himself in the community. One of the ways he distinguished himself was by beating a Canadian record when he won the 2009 L’Epiphanie tournament, outlasting a field of 865 players, the largest number of entrants for a single day event. This victory boosted his confidence and he decided to try his luck in more prestigious events with larger buy-ins. In September 2009 he finished 16th in a World Poker Tour event held in Atlantic City. Motivated by his friend Jonathan Duhamel’s win at the 2010 World Series Of Poker main event, Gabriel came in fourth the next year in a $1500 event at the World Series Of Poker for a $211,000 payday.
Gabriel is proud of his accomplishments. He would like to continue playing poker and eventually make his mark on the international scene.
